Joan Morris Bradford, Wamego, died on Nov 29, 2013 in Marysville, KS. Joan was born May 2, 1928 in Topeka, the daughter of James Lloyde Morris and Edith Cleland Morris. She was the younger of two children. She graduated from Oskaloosa (KS) High School in 1946 and the University of Kansas in 1950, with a degree in Sociology. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. Joan was married to William E. (Bill) Bradford on May 8, 1948 and they had three children: Ann, Kirk Charles, and Stephen James. Bill and Joan lived in Bartlesville, OK and McLouth, KS before settling in Wamego in 1961. Joan was active in Chapter EY, P.E.O, KU Alumni Association, Wamego Public Library Board, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered for many years at the Library, the Wamego Methodist Thrift Shop and with the American Cancer Society. She was a Breast Cancer survivor. Joan was Office Manager at Wamego City Hospital for twenty years and then continued to work there part time for many additional years. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2007, her sister Donna Jean Shaad in 1999, and her parents in 1949 and 1980. She is survived by three children: Ann Yingling and husband Major General (Ret) Jay Yingling of Atlanta, Kirk and Anne Bradford of Marysville, and Steve Bradford and wife Kim Simpson of Ketchikan, AK; ten grandchildren: Scott Yingling, Brooke Yingling, Libby Yingling Peschke, Katie Bradford Gray, Chris Bradford, Scott Bradford, Julie Bradford, Tessa Bradford, Maura Bradford, and Tori Bradford; three step-grandchildren: Corbin, Kiernan and Catriona McCord; and six great grandchildren. The family will greet friends during a visitation Sunday, Dec. 8th from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Cremation has taken place and Joan will be laid to rest next to Bill in the McLouth, KS cemetery. Memorials have been established at the Wamego Public Library and the Wamego Methodist Thrift Shop, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
