Daniel E. Herrs

Daniel E. Herrs passed away on September 7, 2026, at Onaga Health and Rehab. He was born on August 12, 1959, in Marysville, Kansas, to Clarence and Johanna (Frese) Herrs.

Daniel spent his working life doing what he knew best: working with his hands and keeping things running. He was an auto mechanic with Herrs Auto and Tractor Service, the family-owned business, and also worked for many years at Dick Edwards Ford and the Car Clinic. Hard work was at the center of his life. He was always in his dad’s shop, and that steady example shaped the man he became. He stayed busy, was always working on something in the garage, and found purpose in fixing cars and tackling the next project.

He was known for being ornery in a way that brought character and familiarity to those around him, and for a caring and respectful nature that people appreciated. Daniel loved dogs and cats, and he was happiest when he was doing something with his hands. He enjoyed garden tractor pulls with his son and also competed locally in John Deere tractor pulls. Even as his health declined, he remained himself at heart—a man who valued work, activity, and the satisfaction of staying occupied. He had been a resident of Onaga Health and Rehab for the past three years.

In 1987, Daniel married Mary Susan Krouse Herrs, and together they had two children. They later divorced. He later married Lisa Pinnick in the fall of 2005.

Daniel is survived by his sister, Carolyn Herrs; son, Tim Herrs; his daughters, Elizabeth (Jubilee) Herrs and stepdaughter Miranda Pinnick; his grandchildren, Logan and RiAnn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Johanna Herrs; his wife, Lisa Pinnick; and his sister, Mary Herrs.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home. A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Samaritan's Purse and can be left in the care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, Kansas, 66547.
