David Raymond Brockish, known to many as Dave or Super Dave, 80, from Wamego, Kansas, passed away on August 9, 2025, at his home.
Dave was born on December 29, 1944, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to parents Gayland Francis and Ruth Elizabeth (Lindenberg) Brockish.
Dave was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force; he joined in 1966 and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a lifelong devoted supporter of veteran organizations.
Dave was a true jack-of-all-trades. He could often be spotted mowing his lawn with a distinct flair—daisy dukes, no shirt, headband, and cozy slippers! He was a thoughtful neighbor, from pulling weeds to shoveling snow for them. He loved all forms of gardening, from tomatoes to flowers. He had a special bond with nature, and he delighted in making feed structures for squirrels and birds.
Dave took immense pride in his sobriety, proudly celebrating his AA milestones since September 8, 1984. He loved supporting the Kansas City Royals, Kansas State University, and the Kansas City Chiefs sports team. His laughter while fishing or chopping wood could light up the dullest of days. Dave could often be found with six or more cameras on him at a time to capture all of life’s moments. You were fortunate if you received a great big sweaty bear hug from the friendly “Chewbacca”.
Family was at the center of Dave’s universe. Dave will be missed by his wife Doris Brockish (Kuehl); children, Sandi Cottrell (Scott), Mike Brockish, Lisa Meyer (Gary), Tony Kuehl, and Carrie Simmons (Lance Lyman); grandchildren Hunter Cottell (Emily), Cody Meyer (Jeri), Kylar Meyer (Vanessa), Kori Roberts (Tyler), Caidin Meyer, Kiara Simmons, Braylen Simmons, and Aliya Simmons; great-grandchildren Ariel, Henry, Wesley, Bennett, Asher, Charlotte, Bryan, Lorelei, and Fallon; siblings Joseph Brockish, Richard Brockish (Linda), Debbie Ernsbarger (Mark), and Betty Oliver (Michael); as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Dave has now joined his parents, baby sister Gloria Brockish, brother Michael “Mick” Brockish, and sister-in-law Teri Brockish.
Dave’s family will hold a private family celebration of life.
