Dean Leo Ebel, born September 5, 1937, died peacefully on November 25, 2025, after a brief illness. His family is comforted that he is now at peace with God.
Dean devoted his lifetime to photography, continuing to serve others even after retirement.
His philosophy was simple: "Helping people preserve proud and happy moments." A long-time member of the Professional Photographers of America, he photographed presidents, royalty, performers, dignitaries, families, weddings, and events while traveling to more than 100 countries.
He always measured his success by the memories he helped preserve for others.
Above all, Dean loved his family. He especially cherished his four grandchildren, who knew him as "Grandpa Dean."
Dean will be remembered for his generosity, compassion, and quiet willingness to help others. His kindness was sincere and unassuming, and he simply enjoyed helping people make the best better.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mollie Ebel; his sister, Frances Snodgrass; and his first wife, Carol Ann Sitz.
He is survived by his sons, Brent Ebel and Travis Ebel; his grandchildren, Austin Ebel, Cameron Ebel, Lauren Ebel, and Ryan Ebel; and Paula Brinson, his devoted companion and cherished partner of the past ten years.
Dean's ashes will be buried beside his parents in Wamego, Kansas, during a Celebration of Life on July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wamego City Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Cross Point Community Church, 612 E. Hwy 24.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Dean's memory are encouraged to offer a helping hand to someone in need or perform a simple act of kindness.
