Diane Marie Hund, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Alma, Kansas.

Born on April 18, 1958, in Paola, Kansas, Diane was the beloved daughter of Tony and Annetta (Wolken) Butel.

A graduate of Paola High School, Diane developed a remarkable work ethic and deep connection to her family’s agricultural roots at an early age. She learned to operate farm equipment while growing up on the family dairy farm, working closely with her father and nurturing a passion for rural life that would define her own family’s future.

On October 17, 1981, she married Duane Martin Hund in Paola, Kansas, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, marking the beginning of a loving partnership that would last for decades. Together, they embarked on a journey as self-employed cattle ranchers and farmers, raising their family. Diane balanced her many roles as a devoted wife, mother, full-time homemaker, and dedicated partner on the ranch, supporting Duane in every aspect of their operation.

Diane’s faith was central to her life. She was a devoted Catholic and a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Newbury. Her spiritual devotion was evident in both her daily actions and her commitment to her church community. Diane’s generosity, warmth, and willingness to help others reflected her deep-seated values and enduring commitment to her faith.

Family was everything to Diane. She held her siblings dearly, always keeping close ties and maintaining a special role as the caring sister who never lost track of her brothers and sisters. Known for her great smile and contagious laughter, Diane’s presence lit up any room. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, nurturing a dynamic and loving household, and extending her spirit of kindness to everyone she met.

Diane is survived by her husband, Duane; her children: Cindy (Ryan) Neill, Michelle (John) Rodriguez, Brian (Sarah) Hund, Lisa (Kyle) Lang, Andy (Bailey Rainforth) Hund, Grandchildren, Bobby, Xander, Jake, Wesley, Riley, Aurora, Makayla, MJ, Christian, Thomas, Johnathan, Elijah, Alexander, Siblings, Mary (Bob), Tony (Catherine), Theresa (Jim), Margie (Stan), Rita (Lyle), Angela, Marcella (Bob), David (Terri), Phyllis, Dolores, Roberta (Steve), Karen (Derrick).
