Geri Lynn Shipman

Geri Lynn Shipman, age 69, passed away on August 9, 2026, in Onaga, Kansas.

She was born on January 3, 1957, in Fort Eustis, Virginia, the daughter of James and Betty (Steele) Couch.

Geri's life was marked by a devotion to her work and family. Over the years, she owned Kaw Valley Archery for 8 years before selling the business and embracing retirement. Her career also included valued roles at Kansas State University in housing and dining, as well as service at the Manhattan Public Library.

Geri married Jimmey Shipman in Wamego, Kansas.

She had a fondness for collecting frogs and for spending time outdoors. The most profound joy in Geri's life came from being with her grandchildren, with whom she shared her laughter, stories, and unconditional love. Those who knew her describe Geri as a loving and kind person, ever present and willing to help others, offering support when needed without hesitation.

She is survived by her children: Jackie (Daniel) Thornton and Curtis Roudybush; brother, James Couch; and grandchildren: Leah Barth, Kyli Thornton, Sawyer Thornton, and Leo Roudybush.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jimmey Shipman.

A Memorial Service will take place at Kansas Veterans Cemetery on August 21, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wamego Senior Center for Meals on Wheels and can be left in care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, Kansas, 66547.
