John Dirk Henderson died on June 13, 2025, at Stormont Vail in Topeka, Kansas.

A graveside service will be held in his honor at 1:00 p.m. on June 19, 2025, in the Eskridge Cemetery with the Fort Riley Army Detail and the American Legion Post 172 performing Military Honors.

John Dirk Henderson, age 66, died June 13, 2025, at Stormont Vail in Topeka, Kansas.

John was born on April 3, 1959, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Dr. John Wayne and Myrtle (Wright) Henderson.

John married Genevieve Noll from this union, two children, John and Rosie, were born. They were later divorced.

John was part-owner of a restaurant called The Lodge by Lake Wabaunsee from 2001 until 2006. However, most of his working life was spent at Goodyear Tire Distribution in Topeka. He later contributed his efforts to Grandma Hoerner's Foods, Inc.

John was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army from 1979 to 1985, stationed at Fort Hood and in Germany. He took pride in his military involvement, which shaped a significant part of who he was.

John enjoyed boating and was a fan of KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. His personality was characterized by a love for tasteless jokes and a fondness for movies from the 70s and 80s. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and making many memories along the way.

John is survived by his son, John (Jenny) Henderson, his daughter, Rosie Henderson, and his two grandchildren, John Wayne Henderson III and Joanna Riley Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John Wayne Henderson and Myrtle Wright Henderson, and his sister, Abigail Henderson.

A graveside service will be held in his honor at 1:00 p.m. on June 19, 2025, in the Eskridge Cemetery with the Fort Riley Army Detail and the American Legion Post 172 performing Military Honors.
