Kenneth Andrew Ross, 79, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on November 5, 2026, in Junction City. He was born on April 28, 1947, in Brookville, Pennsylvania, the son of Floyd and Lucille Greenwalt Ross.
Kenneth attended school in Brookville, Pennsylvania, and later joined the United States Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War, and his military service took him to Korea, Alaska, and Germany. That chapter of his life remained an important part of who he was, and he was proud to be a veteran.
Following his years of service, Kenneth worked as a diesel mechanic at Shillings Construction. He was known as an easygoing, laid-back man who brought a steady, familiar presence to those around him. In a way that became uniquely his own, he called everybody “George,” and before long, everyone knew him as George.
He liked fishing, doing yard work, and going to the casino. He enjoyed listening to old country music and watching westerns, spotting deer in Pennsylvania, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He also dearly loved his dog, Princess.
On August 10, 1975, he married Vera A. Sunnenberg in Wamego, Kansas. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2021.
He is survived by his children, Kendra (Ray) Messerly, Ed (Shelley) Harcrow, Dean (Janice) Harcrow; sister, Mary Ellen Lawler; brother, Paul (Evelyn) Ross and Phil (Debbie) Ross; grandchildren, Dylan Ross, Edward Harcrow, Tommy Harcrow, Ashlyn Harcrow, Jacob Harcrow, Tristan Harcrow, and Connor Harcrow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lucille Ross; his wife, Vera A. Ross; his brother, Bud Ross; and his sister, Marie Douglas.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on November 11, 2026, at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home.
