Lila Jean Flinn, 93, Wamego, Kansas passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Community Health Center in Onaga after a brief illness.
Lila was born June 13, 1931 at the home of her grandparents in Union Township, Pottawatomie County, Kansas, the only child of Eugene “Gene” and Clara (Wege) Weixelman.
She married Argel Flinn on November 29, 1951 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Wheaton, Kansas. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death on January 7, 2002.
Lila enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, crocheting, sewing, and diligently tended her flower garden, manicured yard, and very large strawberry patch.
Lila was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Wamego, where she taught 1st Grade Religion Class when her girls were young.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Dinah and Andy Tilley, and Dixie and Ron Blanka, two sisters-in-law Florence Flinn and Marlene Flinn, nieces, nephews, a dear cousin, Pam Weixelman Brase, and a dear friend Joyce Henderson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego. Father Mike Peterson will be the Celebrant. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the Mass, beginning at 9:30 am, and a rosary prayer service will be held at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to either St. Bernard Catholic Church or St. Jude Research Hospital for Children.
