Margaret Mary Anderson

Margaret Mary Anderson, lovingly known as Peg, passed peacefully with her family by her side on July 30, 2026, in St. George, Kansas.

Born on April 4, 1947, in Tipton, Kansas, Peg was the daughter of Charles Beck and Matilda Arnoldy.

Peg graduated from high school in Salina. Her journey to adulthood led her to Junction City, where she began working as a manager at Tony’s Pizza. It was there, in 1968, that she met Richard Anderson. Their love story blossomed, and they were married on August 17, 1968, in Junction City. Together, they shared a deep bond until Richard’s passing in 2012.

Peg’s distinguished career as a government employee spanned 30 years at Fort Riley. As a budget analyst, she was among the pioneering staff members when SWCPOC was established and ultimately retired as a respected GS12. Her roles included work with the retraining brigade, reflecting her dedication and commitment to service.

Later in life, Peg embraced travel, finding joy in exploring new destinations—especially those with warm sand and gentle waters. She delighted in the simple pleasure of dipping her toes in the water and relished the feeling of having made up for lost opportunities. Family remained at the center of Peg’s world; she spent the last twelve years living with Kelley and Dave, cherishing every moment spent surrounded by loved ones.

Peg’s generous spirit was evident in every aspect of her life. She was unfailingly caring and thoughtful, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. Her love for her grandchild was radiant, and she forged friendships wherever she went. Peg had a flair for making spaces beautiful, tending to her potted flowers or enjoying quiet moments sitting on the deck, appreciating the beauty of each day. Her passion for Corvettes—especially her beloved white Corvette—brought her great joy and reflected her vibrant personality.

Her sense of humor endured through all of life’s challenges, bringing comfort and laughter to those around her even in her final days. Never one to complain, Peg handled life’s hardships with grace, always mindful that others, too, faced their own battles.

She is survived by her daughters, Shelley Anderson and Kelley (Dave) York; Sister, Betty Yockers; brother, Joe (Colleen) Beck; and grandson, Bryson York.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Anderson; parents, Charles and Matilda Beck; brother, Larry Beck; and brother-in-law, Bob Yockers.

A visitation will be held on August 5, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home, 4370 Salzer Rd., P.O. Box 48, Wamego, Kansas.
