Patrick “Chris” Adams, 65, of Wamego, Kansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, following a battle with cancer. Born on October 24, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, Chris attended Wamego High School, and Kansas State University. He married Penny Prockish on December 29, 1990. In 2000 Chris and Penny welcomed their only child, Shelby, into the world. Chris was a familiar face in town, working at Dyers IGA for more than 20 years. He worked at Caterpillar Work Tools for 25 years, most recently as a Product Control Change Technician.
Known for his genuine smile and joyful demeanor, Chris was a friend to all who had the opportunity to meet him. He is remembered for the love and kindness he showed to his friends, community and especially his family. Chris was most fulfilled by his life at home with wife of 33 years, Penny, and daughter, Shelby. He enjoyed long drives around Wamego and surrounding areas with his daughter and cheering on the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd Adams and Carolyn Pannell, step-father Wayne Hogan, mother-in-law Barbara Prockish, brother Mike Adams, and brother-in-law Ed Bolton. He is survived by wife, Penny Adams, daughter Shelby Adams of the home, sister Beth Bolton, Salado, Texas, step-mother Shirley Hogan, Taft, Tennessee, Penny’s siblings and their spouses, 8 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A private burial will be held at St. Bernards Cemetery with a celebration of life to be held on August 24th at 2 p.m. at Iron Clad in Wamego, KS. The family is grateful for the outpouring of support for Penny and Shelby. Memorial contributions can be made payable to the “Shelby Reid Adams Special Needs Trust” and sent in care of Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
