Paul Schweir

Paul Henry Schweir, 69, of Maple Hill, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly from a farm accident on Saturday (August 8, 2026) in Maple Hill, Kansas.

Born July 29, 1957 Wamego, Kansas, Paul was the son of Lawrence and Gertrude (Casper) Schweir. He grew up working on the family farm and continued with his life’s passion working his farm and raising cattle. He was a hard worker who could do the work of three men, but he always made it fun. He was always on a mission seeking out new and better corn and soybean varieties and keeping his field weed free and well maintained. When he did take a break, it was usually to visit a test plot or attending a tractor pull or bull sale.

Lovingly known as The Commander, Paul was an avid fisherman and loved hunting, especially deer, quail, pheasant and turkey hunting. Paul also enjoyed hunting mushrooms. His pride and joy was the 44 pound flathead catfish he caught on his rod and reel just this past June. He was active in his community and had served on the Wabaunsee County Fire District No. 7 Board and was always there to help out other farmers when in need.

Survivors include two brothers, Wayne Schweir (Dedra) of Belvue, Kansas and Kenneth Schweir of Manhattan, Kansas; a niece, Kayla Moore (Kris); two nephews, Travis Rezac and Troy Rezac (Ashley); and great nieces and great nephew, Kaden Moore, Addyson Rezac, Harper Rezac and Sutton Rezac.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Karen Rezac and Donna Jean Schweir.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning (August 18, 2026) at 10:00 at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego with Mr. Rob Campanella as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday evening (August 17, 2026) from 5:30 to 7:30 at Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.

The family asks in lieu of a memorial contribution, honor Paul by taking your family out for a steak or BBQ rib dinner, which were his favorites.
