Robert “Bob” Fulmer passed away at the Good Shepherd Homecare & Hospice House on April 25, 2026, with family at his bedside.
Bob was born in Wamego, Kansas, to Allan Fulmer and Myrtle Ruth LeVahn Fulmer. Bob grew up on the Fulmer farm near Belvue, KS, and started school in the Half Moon one-room schoolhouse there. Bob was a graduate of Wamego High School, where he was very active in 4-H & FFA. He was elected to serve as the Reporter on the 1945-1946 State FFA Officer team. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering from Kansas State University. Bob remained a lifetime member of the K-State Alumni Association.
After high school, Bob joined the Air Force and earned the rank of First Lieutenant. He was a Navigation Instructor at the Ellington Air Force Base in Houston and served in the Korean War as a Navigator. After his honorable discharge, Bob returned to Kansas to farm with his father and brother John for four years.
In July 1959, Bob married Rosemary Brennan at Immaculate Conception Church in St. Marys, Kansas. The newlyweds moved to Harvard, Illinois, where Bob started working for Starline Inc. as a Design Engineer. Bob and Rosemary welcomed four sons while living in Harvard and made friends that they remained connected with for the rest of their lives. After working six years at Starline, Bob and Rosemary moved the family to Dubuque, Iowa, where Bob worked at John Deere as a Test Engineer for 21 years. During their time in Dubuque, the Fulmer family grew with the addition of two daughters and two more sons. As their children grew, Bob and Rosemary were dedicated parents, attending countless sporting events, music recitals, and school activities. Each summer found the Fulmer family on the road to explore a new part of the United States and/or visit relatives in Kansas.
In 1987, Bob and Rosemary moved back to Kansas, settling in Wamego, and Bob worked for H & R Block for nine years. Returning to Wamego allowed them to reconnect with extended family and old friends. Their group enjoyed attending KSU football games and tailgating in style in the Berry RV. Bob and Rosemary loved to travel together and had many memorable trips, including to Ireland.
Bob was a long-time member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and volunteered in various capacities in Wamego, including the Historical Society and the Community Garden. Bob was a skilled craftsman and gardener, and often made himself available to family and friends for home improvement and community projects. In his free time, Bob enjoyed spending time playing cards, golfing, gardening, woodworking, and any activity that put him in the company of loved ones.
Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rosemary; his children, Ed (Nola), Steve (Diane), Terry, Tim (Tammy), Mary (Prasad Venugopal), Jeff (Cassandra Willis), Sarah, and Tom (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Cathleen (Carlos Monrroy), Matt, Mike, Willis, Cody, Chloe (Ken Zill), Caylee, Autum, Adaline, Alexa, Austen, Kieran, and Meera; his great-grandson, Alyosha; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Myrtle, his siblings, John (Hallie) and Betty, and his grandsons, Brennan and Ryan.
