Ronald Jess Harold, formerly of Manhattan, Kansas passed away on September 20, 2024, at the age of 88.
He was born in Dresden, Kansas on February 10, 1936, to Jess Harold, Jr and Lucille Demmer Harold.
Shortly after graduation from Junction City High School in 1954, he went to work for Bailey Moving & Storage/Allied Van Lines for more than 60 years. He managed the Junction City office before moving the office to Manhattan. While working at Bailey's, he met and married Janice Glessner of Dwight, Kansas. They were married for 60 years. Jan proceeded him in death on February 19, 2023.
Ron never met a stranger and always had a funny joke to share. He was a very patriotic man who proudly served 8 years in the Army Reserves. He faithfully raised the American flag up every morning and took it down every night. He enjoyed spending time with friends & family at Harold's Bar playing cards, listening to country music, and cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats. Ron loved John Wayne so much that he named one of his pickups Duke. And back in the early years, he was a busy man going to softball games that his wife and daughters played. Some nights all 3 played at the same time but in 3 different locations. When he lost his eyesight, he became an avid audiobook listener. Talking Books of Kansas has a wonderful program that is all free.
Survivors include his sister Mary Clark of Junction City, KS, his brother-in-law Pat Burns and his wife Natha of Westmoreland, KS, his daughters Rhonda Taylor and her husband Bryan of St Joseph, MO, Renee Vancamp and her partner Sheila Smith of Stevensville, MT and Patty Davis and her husband Tim of Panama City Beach, FL. His daughter Robin Rowe preceded him in death on February 11, 2020.
He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great, great-grandchildren along with countless family members and friends.
Come help us celebrate this man of great faith and love!
