Ross E. Spohn, age 81, died peacefully on August 7, 2025, surrounded by family, at Wellsprings of Westmoreland, KS.

He was born on July 2, 1944, in Little River, KS, the son of Helen (Anderson) and Leo Spohn.

He graduated from Marquette High School in the class of 1962. After high school, Ross worked as a cattleman and a truck driver, retiring in 2011.

Ross married Effie Spoon on February 14, 1963, in Marquette, KS. Together, they were married 62 years; she survives of the home. They shared their lives raising three daughters, Martha, Ruth, Julie, and one son, Ross Allen.

He loved riding and breaking horses. He also liked spending time watching TV in his favorite chair, which he fondly called “his office”. Ross was a member of AA for 29 years, where he devoted his time helping others to live a good and sober life.

He is survived by his wife, Effie Spohn; children Martha (Jim) Mooneyham, Ruth (Ron) Ebert, Julie (Jim) Elder, and Ross Allen (Janel) Spohn; brother, Cary (Pauline) Spohn; Raymond (Leslie) Spohn, Doyle (Pat) Spohn; sister-in-law, Aunt Saundra, and 11 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Helen Spohn, and his brother Lawrence Spohn.

Cremation arrangements are in care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home. A private inurnment is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Good Shepherd Hospice House or Wellsprings of Westmoreland and can be sent in the care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, Kansas 66547.
