Sheri Valentine Meunier, age 78, passed away on December 16, 2025, in Wamego, Kansas.
Born on February 1, 1947, in Watonga, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Byron and Jeanne Wolfe.
Sheri married Harry (Ned) Valentine in 1969, and from this union, three children were born: Lou, Daniel, and Lindy. Ned and Sheri were later divorced. On May 11, 1998, Sheri married Alain Meunier in Westmorland KS. He survives at the home.
Sheri had a distinguished teaching career in The International School of Paris, where she inspired many students and faculty with her passion for the language and culture. Her educational journey began with her graduation from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas, in 1965. Sheri continued her studies at the University of Kansas, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She then earned her master's degree from Kansas State University and PhD in French at the University of Kansas. During her time at KU, she was also a proud member of the Sigma Kappa sorority.
As a teenager, Sheri’s many talents came to light. She excelled as part of the high school drama department. Family members remembered fondly a play she was in with actress Sandy Duncan and the positive recognition Sheri received. She was an excellent flutist, playing in the East Texas Symphony as a teen. Becoming fluent in German, Sheri successfully completed her junior year of high school in Neunkirchen, Germany. She completed her junior year of college at the University of Bordeaux, and it was there that her love of French culture began.
Sheri was known for her enthusiastic personality and her love of students. She had a deep appreciation for gardening, traveling, writing, poetry, and reading, with a particular fondness for French history, especially the works regarding Marguerite de Navarre.
She is survived by her husband, Alain Meunier of Wamego; her son, Louis Wolfe Valentine of Jacksonville, Florida; her brother, Bruce Wolfe; and sister, Valerie (Jim) Biltz, of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren: Tyler Niven, Ashlyn Gibson, Penelope and Danica Valentine, Ian and Jacob Burton, Joeseph Doza, and Lexi Starr.
Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Jeanne Wolfe; her beloved daughter, Elizabeth "Lindy"; Lindy’s husband, Corey Doza, and son, Daniel Wolfe Valentine.
Visitation will be held on December 23, 2025, at St. Joseph's Mission Catholic Church, located at 100 KS-63, Emmett, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. A Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Parkinson Disease Association and can be left in care of Campanella & Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
